Renaming pictures file-name based on how you order them on your screen?

“I’d like the same thing because I’d like to integrate pics from different cameras (mine, wife, son) and/or put them in an order other than exif date (just because!).

Hmmm… I see an application in my near future…

Open a picture, then hit T to get a thumbnail page. If your pics are in multiple subfolders, find the top folder and right-click it, then “Load thumbs from all subfolders” Then drag the thumbs to reorder as you wish. You can change the thumbnail size under the Options menu.

When they’re arranged as you like, hit Ctrl-A to select all, then F2 to batch-rename. Set the name pattern to whatever you want, giving enough digits (# for generated numbers) to include all the photos.
