“Think Lunch” on Bank & Slater is a very good spot for fresh, locally-grown grub; they have a nice selection of (usually organic) soups, sandwiches, salads, etc. It’s a trendy little spot, but don’t get turned off by the hipster-ish look & feel of the place; great food, awesome staff & they play great music too!

“The German Town Deli” is right around the corner, too, on Slater (right beside the BMO tower). Very authentic German eatery, their deli meats are wicked, soups, bread & cheese also all very tasty. Oh, and CHOCOLATE! Great staff; family-run business that’s been around forever.

Dunn’s on Queen is also guaranteed to hit the spot.

Ah! I know the owner of Think Lunch. I can attest to his irrational exuberance for fresh and locally-grown foods. He’s a wonderful chef as well.

Sweet! I heard they give away whatever food’s left-over from the day to homeless people, any truth to that?

Ah, I was referring to Lino, and the only way I know Lino is through working at another restaurant with him.

I just ate at the German Town Deli for the first time yesterday, and it was great!

A couple blocks down Bank Street is Bread and Sons, home of the best damn butter tarts in the world.

Shawarma Queen on Bank between Gloucester and Nepean.

Best Shawarma salad ever… sandwiches of all types as well. Very tasty.

I’ll be there for lunch… I’ll look for an Anus.

Edit: It’s called Shawarma Town now.

I like the sushi at Sushi Go right in front of 235 Queen street.

Oh, and the German Deli at the corner of Slater and Bank. Best sandwich ever and they are cheap too!

Market’s not far from there. My friend and I would meet every Thursday for lunch at Wang’s Noodle House in the market. In-n-out quickly and a giant bowl of delicious, cheap soup is always good.

Wang’s Noodle House is indeed very delicious. I’m a big fan of their fried pork, vegetable and noodle dish.

Despite living in the market for a year I never went there and I regretted it. I’ll have to hit it up when I’m in town next.

Try Toss It Up (http://www.tossibilities.ca/Home/tabid/5764/Default.aspx) right on Sparks at Bank. Great sandwiches, and you can order online and go pick it up. Try the BBQCBC Wrap with roasted garlic sauce instead of ranch. mmm

Marcello’s in L’esplanade Laurier is pretty good.

I always find the staff so rude and snotty… is it just me? Pretty over priced as well.

Both Gooney’s (at Laurier and O’Connor) and, if you’re ok with a bit of a walk, La Bottega (George Street, in the market) make pretty mean sandwiches

Came here to recommend Gooney’s. The “A Goo’s” is the best sandwich in the city for my money.

I can appreciate the “wanna get out of the building” desire, but make sure you try a soup and sandwich at Muffins Plus in the food court. There is a huge line at lunch time for a reason.

I don’t find it that good either. Anything in the World Exchange Plaza is just too expensive. Or maybe I worked in the area for too long and got cynical about it!

Bank has some great food.

Sparks also has a great salad/sandwich/frozen yogurt location.

  • Vitae-mine – Laurier & Bank (Sandwiches/Wraps/Salads)
  • Tossibilities – Sparks – near Bank (Sandwiches/Wraps/Salads/Burritos)
  • Cafe Deluxe – Albert and Metcalfe (Variety of lunchy things)
  • Vie Bella is popular w/ my coworkers – near Sparks and Metcalfe (on the same side of Sparks as the War Memorial) – think they focus on sandwiches.

I just visited a newish sandwich spot on Bank, around Gloucester, I believe, called Bogwich, or Best Organic Sandwich. The potato salad is amazing.

Saigon Pho on Bank is pretty good, but they’re super packed around lunch time. It would be about a ten minute walk for you.

Also on Bank there are a million (more like two) Royal Oaks if you’re up for standard pub food. Probably the one thing going for them is they have a really fantastic Boca burger and deals on pints some days.

The food at the Oak is terrible. The service is ok, depending where you go. The service at the Kent Street location is the pits.

I think it’s pretty okay, just really standard pub food. But seriously, their veggie burger is surprisingly amazing.

Another vote here for Bread & Sons. It’s around Bank & Gloucester. Fuckin delicious organic pizza, their sandwiches are to die for, and so on. When I have the extra cash, I love to treat myself to some Bread & Sons.
