Lets put it this way…..Its a good thing the battery can be changed out. Heavy use will deplete the battery, I get about a day thats using GPS and ALL BG apps updating and two of my home screens are wall to wall top to bottom twitter and facebook Widgets, home screen has Weather and time Widgets. Using Launcher Pro with Cognition 2.2 beta 6 and using the GPS LBstest app I get 8 SAT locks within a minute. The GPS tracking does get wacky now and then but in the end it will get you there….

Defiantly buy a spare battery and charger so you can really enjoy the device without conservation. One of the many things i did not like about the iPhone was having to conserve power all the time. I always had extra batteries for my phones nearby charged and ready to pop in.

Samsung Captivate ATT
Cognition v2.2 beta 6
Android OS: Everything I loved about the iPhone and none of what I hated about the iPhone. Finally.

Recalibrating Your Battery…

Recalibrating Your Battery…
How to isolate and fix battery drain

So, you are having trouble with your battery seemingly draining too quickly, especially after having flashed many ROMs/Kernels/etc…

It is possible that the problem (or part of the problem) is not necessarily the phone using too much power. If this is the case for you, you should see some results from doing the following:

1. Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until it shows 100%

2. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.

3. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the battery indicator shows 100% (you can use vol-up/vol-down to make the indicator come back up when the screen goes to sleep).

4. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.

5. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the battery indicator shows 100%.

6. Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it.

7. Use ADB or a Terminal Emulator to run the following command:

Code:
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin

You should only need to use this sequence one time.

Hope this helps.

Bell’s Galaxy S Vibrant on Telus network

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1678718-Using-a-Bell-Samsung-Galaxy-S-on-Telus?p=14071258#post14071258

AeR0, its pretty simple.

Buy the Galaxy S from Bell no contract.

Connect to a WiFi network with no SIM card inserted.

Search in the Market app for “SGS Unlock”, 1 app will return called “Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool”.

Download and let install. Once installed run the app, and it will provide you with a code.

Write this code down so you can input it in the next step.

Turn off the phone and pop in your TELUS SIM card, then turn on the phone.

Once booted it will detect the non Bell SIM automatically and prompt you for the unlock code.

Enter your unlock code, probably reboot.

Now you’ll need to update your data settings if they didn’t automatically download from the network/SIM, you should check and possibly enter.

Go to the applications list, Settings, Wireless & Networks, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names.

Press the menu button, New APN.

Now enter the APN information from the following thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthre…ed-11-25-2009*

APN: sp.telus.com
No username/password
MMS APN: sp.telus.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18:80

Done!
