Re: TSI Cable Changes…

Ottawa is served by 3 primary head ends … “primary hubs” aka phubs.

History defines how Ottawa is laid out (before internet days) …

East of Bank was all handled by Skyline Cablevision whose head office is on St Laurent Blvd and went all the way out to cover Orleans.

West of Bank was all handled by Ottawa Cablevision (bought by McLean Hunter, bought by Rogers) from their Richmond Rd. headquarters. They built antenna and dish assemblies out in Fallowfield Village (South of Bells Corners just in Nepean) to feed the developments in the south and west and feed signals to the control centre on Richmond Rd.

After Rogers came along they completely segregated Richmond Rd and Fallowfield (RCHRD and FLFRD – why FLFRD ? Fallowfield Rd is nearly 1 km away!!!) Now RCHRD covers Ottawa West of Bank going south, and west to Crystal Beach, and south to Northern parts of Nepean (north of HuntClub. FLFRD covers Nepean SOUTH through Barrhaven down into N. Gower and West to Kanata and Stittsville and North to Dunrobin and Carp. (Constance Bay and Fitzroy had their own cable operators but they got swallowed into Persona)

So … Ottawa is all covered by those 3 areas.
